With a vision to become a catalyst for sustainable development and tourism not only in Croatia but also in the Mediterranean, Europe, and globally, the Foundation for Sustainable Development of Local Communities and Tourism has declared its clear goals and purposes since its inception. As its name suggests – we want to be the dawn that revitalizes our rural areas, making them more successful, valuable, and interconnected than ever before.
Mission with a focus on sustainable development and cross-sectoral collaboration
The Foundation is dedicated to achieving sustainable development goals in local communities through cross-sectoral collaboration, tourism, and social economy. Its mission is to provide expert and financial support to local stakeholders in creating sustainable development models, participate in creating a conducive environment for the development of sustainable tourism, and enable cross-sectoral connections in the development of sustainable economy and agriculture.
Catalyst for sustainable development
The Foundation aspires to become a key catalyst for sustainable development and tourism in local communities, not only in Croatia and the Mediterranean but also on a European and global scale.
Main activities to achieve the goals
The Foundation's main activities include promoting and advocating for sustainable development in rural parts of Croatia and the Mediterranean, informing and supporting individuals interested in sustainable development, financing joint programs for vulnerable groups, organizing public discussions, conducting research, education, and providing technical assistance and counseling.
Target groups and beneficiaries
The Foundation focuses on individuals interested in sustainable development, legal entities sharing similar values, organizations and informal groups engaged in sustainable development, as well as officials in local, regional, and national government bodies. Additionally, the Foundation will collaborate with corporate social responsibility program managers from the profit sector.
Management and financing of the foundation
The management of the Foundation is regulated by the Foundations Act and the Foundation's Statute. The governing bodies are the Board of Directors and the Executive Director. Financing will be realized through strategic partnerships, participation in tenders, donations from legal and natural persons, participant fees, support from the profit sector, and collaboration with international partners.
Future plans
Every year, the Foundation will define plans and implement activities through Operational and Financial Plans to effectively achieve its goals in promoting sustainable development of local communities and tourism on a national, European, and global level.
