Foundation ZORA, dedicated to the sustainable development of local communities and tourism, has launched a project to renovate the **Chestnut Alley in Jaškovo**. This alley, which has been a symbol of the hard work and vision of past generations, has long adorned Jaškovo. Now, it is time for us to contribute and preserve this heritage for future generations.
Lidija Žganjer Gržetić, the founder of Foundation ZORA, established the foundation to make a positive impact on the community. One of its first initiatives is raising funds for planting chestnut trees to **re-green Jaškovo** as it once was, preserving and revitalizing this cherished local heritage.
We would like to express our special gratitude to Sue Pasiennik from Chicago, who visited Štrudlafest with her family this year and generously donated $5,000 USD to this project. Her support motivates us further to achieve this goal together. Additionally, the Žganjer family has donated funds to plant 5 chestnut trees worth €1,250, once again demonstrating their dedication to the local community.
The renovation of the chestnut alley project is divided into two phases:
- In the first phase, the plan is to purchase and plant **40 chestnut trees**, restoring the alley to its former glory and ensuring it regains its full charm and beauty.
- In the second phase, the alley will be equipped with decorative park elements, including benches, trash bins, and lighting, creating a welcoming and functional space for the community and visitors.
As the final part of the project, a **bilingual information board** will be installed, telling the story of the **Guinness World Record for the longest strudel in the world**, which put Jaškovo on the global map.
